Article: Closet Clean-Out, But Make It Jewelry

Closet Clean-Out, But Make It Jewelry

We talk a lot about seasonal wardrobe edits, donating pieces we’ve outgrown, tailoring what still has potential, and rotating in new favourites. But jewelry often escapes that same thoughtful evaluation. We keep it tucked away in boxes, trays, drawers, safety pouches… and then wonder why we’re wearing the same two pieces every week.

The truth is, jewelry holds a different kind of emotion than clothing. We inherit it, mark milestones with it, and invest in it. Because of that, we tend to hold onto it longer, even when it no longer suits our style, needs repair, or hasn't been worn in years.

But a jewelry clean-out can be just as transformative as a closet one, and surprisingly confidence-building.

Start by taking everything out. Lay it flat on a table and really look at what you own.

 Ask yourself:

  • What pieces do I reach for without thinking?

  • What sits unworn — and why?

  • Is something worth repairing, cleaning, or resizing so I can love it again?

  • Are there gaps in what I need when I dress up? The holiday season really teaches us this...

  • And what no longer reflects my personal style today?

From here, your collection naturally splits into categories:
Keep | Refresh | Rotate Seasonally | Resell | Repair | Let Go

You’ll likely find pieces you adore that simply need a bit of TLC; a missing stone replaced, a deep clean, a clasp repair, a fresh polish. Allowing those pieces to shine again reconnects you to why you loved them in the first place.

You may also discover that editing down gives your style more clarity. When your jewelry is curated with intention, not clutter, your personal style feels sharper. You see what you love. You wear what you own. You stop impulse-buying replacements for things that were sitting in a drawer the whole time.

And for the pieces that no longer serve you? They can begin a new story through resale or consignment, making room financially and emotionally for pieces that reflect who you are now.

A jewelry clean-out isn’t about letting go, it’s about holding onto the right things, loving them more, and understanding your evolving style on a deeper level.

If you are ready to edit with intention, but have questions how to get started, we're here to help -- contact hello@louiserow.com today! We offer in-home closet clean-out services, and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Warmly,
